چيپست (Chipset) مجموعه‌اي از مدارهاي مجتمع (IC) است که بر روي مادربرد قرار دارند و مسئول مديريت و کنترل ارتباطات بين قطعات مختلف سيستم مي‌باشند. اين مجموعه شامل دو بخش اصلي به نام‌هاي North bridge و South bridge (در مدل‌هاي قديمي) است که وظايف مختلفي را بر عهده دارند.
وظايف چيپست:
مديريت ارتباطات: چيپست وظيفه مديريت ارتباطات بين پردازنده، حافظه، کارت گرافيک، و ساير قطعات جانبي را بر عهده دارد.
